Pittsworth Lions Club

District 201Q3 Queensland Australia

Pittsworth Lions Changeover was held on June 29th 2019

  • Held yearly
  • Date to be announced
  • Pittsworth Bowls Club

This is a public speaking competition where a hand full of our local High School students (year 12) create their own speeches on a topic they are passionate about and then present it to an audience.  They are also given 3 impromptu questions that they have to speak on for a few minutes.   An interview is also given to each student where their answers also go toward their points.  At the end of the night a winner is announced and they then go on to the district final.  If they are chosen as the winner they then go on to the state final.  It is challenging but also rewarding for the students as they increase in confidence and meet many new people along the way.

In between all this we keep raising funds by holding many bbq's and raffles and best of all we still have time to enjoy being a Lion.

We are ordinary people doing great things - supporting the community, helping people with a disability, greening the community, fundraising for worthwhile causes, while also supporting each other in a friendly and caring environment.

Be a part of something special. Come and join the Pittsworth Lions Club.

Pittsworth is a vibrant community of some 3 000 people half an hour's drive from Toowoomba in the heart of the Darling Downs. In 1848 the area was gazetted as Beauaraba¬Ě, meaning path through the scrub. By 1886 a hotel, blacksmith's shop and small township had been established, and was officially named Pittsworth. From its pastoral and dairying beginnings Pittsworth is now a service centre for cropping, egg production and road transport.  The Pittsworth community is always very generous and caring when it comes to supporting it's local events.  It is a community to be very proud of.

The Pittsworth Lions Club was established in 1965 as the 355th Lions Club in Australia. We have a current membership of 21 people and are involved in a variety of activities such as holding Lions Markets and Barbeques, the Lions Youth of the Year, the Children of Courage Awards and Lions Medical Research Foundation Personality Quest.  Our meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at the Pittsworth Bowls Club where we all enjoy a meal together and discuss and organise upcoming fund raising events.

We are the Lions

We work to meet the needs of our local community and the world.

Our 1.4 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas conduct vision and health screenings, build parks, support eye hospitals, award scholarships, assist youth, provide help in time of disaster and much more.

We also have fun while helping others! Join us in making our community and the world better places to live.

Becoming a Lion

Lions club members are men and women who strive to make a difference in their local community as well as in communities worldwide. Their volunteer efforts go beyond the support of vision care, to addressing unmet health and education needs worldwide.
